Question:
I have about 2,000 followers on Instagram, about 300 on Facebook. I post the same content to each platform. My Instagram has moved more quickly because I’ve engaged with other accounts and connected with influencers and they have embraced and promoted my product. Also, since I have a visual photography brain, Instagram is more intuitive for me. However, I think I have underutilized Facebook and that there is a big audience there that I am not yet tapping into. Your thoughts?
Expert Jane Harrell Responds:
The thing to keep in mind is that each platform (Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, etc.) has different audiences and different kinds of content that tend to perform the best on each. It’s fairly common that something that grows like wildfire on one social channel may stall entirely on another.
So, I’d first suggest you do the Social Media Selector and make sure Facebook will work for you.
As a side note, I suspect that Pinterest could be a GREAT one for you and easier to get organic traction on than Facebook or Instagram these days. It’s also highly visual and has recently put increased emphasis on helping small, ethical and sustainable businesses.
